Thanks to the gradual restoration of communications, it is possible to travel from Lviv in various directions. The Carpathians enjoy increased demand in the region.

Where to go to the mountains for a few days? The lviv.travel team has prepared a list of destinations (Skole, Slavske, and Pylypets) and routes for your weekend trip to the mountains.

How to get there?

Trains have recently been restored. You can get to these locations from Lviv by train, electric train, or bus (departure from Dvirtseva Square).

If you do not have tickets for a direct train/bus, you can combine the trip with a transfer to Stryi. You will find detailed information on the following resources:

Skole

The city is the start of the climb (11-12 km.) to the highest mountain of the Skolivski Beskydy - Parashka peak (1,268 m). An alternative is to climb Lopata peak, which has a shorter route.

By the way, it was on this mountain that the battle between the UPA and the combined German-Hungarian forces took place in July 1944.

Of course, the mountains are not high, but the views are worth it. If you don't go after the rain, the track is a good option for beginners.

Near Skole, there is also the famous Kamianka waterfall and Zhuravlyne (Dead) lake.

Slavske

It is a well-known vacation destination and resort. In addition to winter activities, saunas and baths are nearby, and within a radius of 5 km are three lifts to the top where you can enjoy the view.

The nearest to the center of Slavske is the lift in Trostian. The smallest and cheapest is the ski lift to Pohar, which offers a good view in winter.

However, the leader in popularity and quality is the ski lift in Zakhar Berkut. There is also a restaurant at the top.

At the foot of the mountain, you have the alternative of going up on a quad bike. The lift to Pohar and Zakhar Berkut is a two-seater.

Pylypets

The most convenient way to get to Pylypets is by car. Another possible option is to travel to Volovets by train and then transfer to Pylypets.

Arriving by train, you can immediately start the ascent to the Plai peak, which is on the Borzhava ridge, and get down back, or move further along via the Velykyi Verkh peak to the Hymba peak and then descend to Pylypets.

Another option is to start the return ascent from Pylypets. It is important to know that there is an exit in the Hymba peak. Be sure to visit the Suriia teahouse and try Carpathian tea.
