The main idea of the underground exhibition is to introduce visitors to the past and present of the Garrison Church in the broader context of Lviv’s history. Times changed - the city and its people evolved - and the church changed along with them.
During your visit, you’ll have the chance to trace how this place has transformed from the princely era to the present day.
With the Lviv City Card, entry to the Undergrounds of the Garrison Church of Sts. Peter and Paul is free of charge.

In the undergrounds, you will discover:
- An introduction to Lviv of the princely era. Thanks to a detailed model of the city from that period, you can see what Lviv looked like at the very beginning of its history and learn about the place where the Garrison Church would later appear.
- Lviv in the 15th century.
On the second level of the undergrounds, you can see the preserved remains of a 15th-century city school building. The Jesuit complex was built on the site of several medieval houses. Visitors will discover what the city looked like at that time, how Lviv’s residents lived, and what the architecture of the era was like.
- The City after the Fire of 1527
This section tells the story of how Lviv’s urban landscape changed in the 17th–18th centuries - where the first astronomical observatory in the history of Ukraine was located, and how the undergrounds were built and used. Among the exhibits, you’ll even find a genuine sarcophagus.
A section of the exhibition is dedicated to the history of the Garrison Church itself.
In this hall, visitors can see artifacts that have survived to the present day, showing what this sacred place looked like before World War II. As of today, the undergrounds are gradually being modernized and digitalized. Visitors can take a virtual tour of the church as it appeared in 2012, explore an interactive map of 18th-century Lviv, and look forward to new interactive features.
The undergrounds of the Garrison Church are one of the most interesting museums in Lviv, constantly developing and being supplemented with new exhibits.
