Pharmacy Museum is one of the oldest museum projects in Lviv.

It was created on the basis of the Under the Black Eagle Pharmacy, which has been operating since 18th century.

It was considered very prestigious and well paid to be a pharmacist in Lviv. In 1611 King Sigismund I approved the corporation statute of the Lviv pharmacists.

In 1853 two of them,  Ignacy Łukasiewicz and Jan Zeh, invented the first kerosene lamp in the world. In 1966 the original exhibits related to the pharmacological craft were collected from the ancient pharmacies of the whole city.

Nowadays, it is an operating pharmacy, which at the same time has an exposition in several rooms and underground cellars.

The Pharmacy Museum is a good place for those who enjoy exploring the old cellars, listening to legends about alchemists and those who is interested in the history of pharmacology. It is a great tourist destination for a self-guided excursion.
