The exhibition at the Franko House includes works by Petro Sypniak from his previous creative periods. For some time, the author hesitated with the choice of what to show the viewer this time: something new or, on the contrary, to offer a small retrospective. Finally, he was convinced to show something from the past. The war has taught many people to focus on the main things, to go back in time and rethink the ordinary simple moments of life that we usually don't notice.
The title of the exhibition was unexpectedly suggested by one of the works selected for the show, which gave the exhibition itself a multisensory interpretation: "From the Past" is a cross-section of the author's creative periods, and it is also the title of the exhibition's title work from the "Chumak Series", which has long been Petro Syplyak's calling card. It is also a look from the past peaceful life to us today...
It is a meeting of the previous us with the present us and what we could advise and say to each other from those time periods: not to postpone plans for later, because there may simply be no later, to focus on small moments that give us a sense of happiness and presence here and now, because they make up the most vivid memories of our lives, to record these moments every day in our minds, as artists record them on canvas, whether we were able to live up to our expectations of ourselves and whether we betrayed our aspirations and dreams to please pseudo-important goals.
