The multicultural art project "Before and During" curated by Svitlana Tkachenko will run until May 10th at the Palace of Arts, 17 Mykoly Kopernyka Street.
The project features the renowned artist Valeriy Sosna and his reflection on war. The series of paintings "Sublimation" is something that Ukrainian art has not seen before. The power of the presented works is equivalent to the painful feeling of Goya and his "black paintings."
The works in the "Child" series are an abstract painting of a child, a boy named Semyon Isaev, who, despite his young age, has already experienced the horrors of war. In Svitlana Tkachenko's conceptual installation, one can find different stories and thematic walls with emotions. There is a war diary with visualization of almost every day since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. There are works filled with hope, works about fragility and tenderness. The whole range of emotions that every Ukrainian is feeling right now.
