The concert of contemporary Ukrainian music titans will present its two features. Lyrics and rationality, energy and meditation, associativity and visualisation.
According to the Latin translation, “quid pro quo” means equal exchange. In our case, it is a beneficial friendly environment where music plays, and everyone is happy to find the most important things for themselves — sharing: the composer to the performer, the performer to the listener, the listener to the Mirror!
How else it would be possible to get a whole set of meanings safely hidden in the thin musical texture than by looking deep into individual experiences? The exchange of creative energy, dialogue at the intersection of feelings, and internal and world-view contrasts will mark the evening's program.
Lyrical and philosophical Chamber Symphony No. 9 “Quid pro Quo”, where in the ongoing presentation of opposing codes, the music leaves room for listening references, or the narrative voice of the viola, its vivid lines on the skillfully organized orchestral canvas of Chamber Symphony No. 15 — Stankovych’s music was inspired by his reflections. This is an absolute genius: to combine the drama and longing from the tragedy of our life, the eternal and screeching whipping of daily winds with a special "angel’s touch".
However, another phenomenon is silent music, Valentyn Sylvestrov's calling, which divided his creativity into periods before (determined avant-garde of techniques, themes and images) and after (concentrated minimalism of soft gestures). Every sound, pause, shade and element is detailed in his compositions, marked by this delicate pen stroke. So the radiant transparency of music, its meditative response to the near and distant, and his mirror sow hope in this dark world.
