On Tuesday, November 22, at 6 pm, a recital of Victoria Amelina will be held on the Small Stage of the Lesya Ukrainka Theater.
Victoria Amelina is a Ukrainian writer and public figure. She is the founder of the New York Literary Festival. She is a member of the Ukrainian PEN and a laureate of the Conrad Prize. She is the author of four prose books: "November Syndrome, or Homo Companies", "Someone, or the Water Heart", "Home for Home", and E-E-Excavator Eka Stories". Victoria Amelina debuted in 2014 with the novel "November Syndrome, or Homo Companies". It was well received by the audience and was included in the LitAccent 2014 rating.
In 2015, the novel was reissued and shortlisted for the Valeriy Shevchuk Prize. Victoria Amelina's second novel "Act for Home" was published in 2017. It was recognized as the best prose book of the year at the Zaporizhzhia Book Sale festival. This novel was also shortlisted for the LitAccent of the Year, the UNEXO City of Literature Prize and the EU Prize for Literature. In 2021, Victoria Amelina founded the New York Literary Festival in the Donetsk region.
The event is moderated by poet Hryhorii Semenchuk. Together with Victoria Amelina, they will talk about war, volunteering, Ukrainian New York and poetry.
