One of the most famous Ukrainian operas is "Stolen Happiness" by Yuliy Meytus, based on the drama by Ivan Franko. The confusion of fates and the tragedy of the feelings of Anna, Mykola, and Mykhailo are in tune with the melodies of Hutsul folklore, with their sharp rhythms and dissonances, which the composer always uses.
