The idea to create this exhibition came to me at the moment of acquaintance with young Lviv sculptors, whom I decided to present as an independent phenomenon that is gradually germinating among the graduates of the Lviv Academy of Arts. They tried to break away from social and simply realistic sculpture as a craft, which was laid since the founding of the then Institute of Decorative and Applied Arts in 1946.
The phenomenon of new sculpture is inherent in realism, which is present in all participants of the exhibition. Simple geometric shapes, abstractness or philosophy of spatial installations are still rare. Sculptors think in terms of a subject, a series and choose accurate but traditional materials.
