"Zakhar Berkut" is a story by Ivan Franko about the struggle of the inhabitants of Tukholshchyna against the Mongol invasion in the XIII century. This cult work of Ukrainian classic, a landmark for Ukrainians, should sound to us in a new way, through the prism of today's war with Russia.
The question for all of us now is where to find the strength to defeat the enemy. Stronger, bigger, cruel and crazy. And in Franko's "Zakhar Berkut" we, today, can discern a certain formula for victory. Our strength lies in the appeal to our roots, awareness of our Ukrainian identity, unity and love for our native land.
The path to Victory is difficult, but we will overcome it!
