Martin McDonagh tragicomedy.
In the center of the plot is the story of an old woman Meg, who lives in a small town in Ireland, where she imprisoned herself and now does everything possible to imprison her daughter Maureen. The creators of the play "The Beauty Queen" are interested, first of all, in the theme of a peripheral, isolated person who strives for a dream life, but is unable to achieve it. Because of the fears of the past that are transferred to reality, the inability to realize their dreams, this desired life remains unlived. This is a mental paradox that is inherent in Ukrainian society in particular: to strive for the best, but not to make efforts to achieve it, instead, we wish for what we want and enjoy the illusion.
