"Natalka Poltavka" is one of the most popular romantic Ukrainian operas, which has not left the posters for more than a century, created by Mykola Lysenko based on the play and music by Ivan Kotlyarevsky.
It is a sensual story about love and loyalty based on the play, which started the Ukrainian professional theatre in the early nineteenth century.
According to the director Roman Valk, this is a play that combines the majestic and the earthly: "We start from the clarity of our being and want to reflect it in the scenery and costumes. On the stage, we see the path to the sun. The costumes are also in this range, which encodes the folklore way, the way of Ukrainian life, its ethnographic reflection."
