In Lviv, Ukrainian funk hits will resonate along with a lecture by Albert Tsukrenko.

Embark on a journey through time to the rhythms of funk-tastic music! After a full house and enthusiastic feedback from the audience at the Officers' House in Lviv (22 Teatralna Street), a lecture-concert titled "Old School Ukrainian Funk" will take place featuring the showman Albert Tsukrenko and the band MOVA, as announced by the organizers, VINIL Concert agency.

This multimedia tribute project comprises cover compositions of Ukrainian funk songs from the 1970s and popular hits from the 1960s-1980s, performed by the band MOVA, and a lecture-performance by the researcher of Ukrainian popular songs, musician, and showman Albert Tsukrenko ("Hamerman Znyshchuye Virusy").

Old School Ukrainian Funk revives a whole era of Ukrainian pop music from the 1960s to the 1980s, including the funk of the 70s, which was consciously suppressed during the Soviet times and forgotten after its collapse. Under the conditions of totalitarianism, Ukrainian funk songs couldn't achieve their true signature sound characteristic of this style. Nevertheless, they were at the peak of the global trends of that time and had their unique charm. Vitaliy Bardetskyi, a music journalist and producer, referred to this phenomenon as "the mustached funk" and created a documentary film about it.
