Music is nothing but the rhythmic shaking of the air
This is how a meticulous scientist would describe one of the most mysterious types of art. However, we believe music is also a magnetic movement of the human soul. These are the vibrations of the infinite cosmos. Probably, every listener would describe the mysterious sound of the “theremin” instrument with these words. So let’s see as evidence the performance of the Dutch musician Thorwald Jørgensen, who will perform as a soloist with the Lviv National Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Iryna Vakulina on the evening of March 24.
Look how his unusual instrument works: vibrations of sound frequencies are created by a generator, and their signal is passed through a loudspeaker and converted into sound. Even more interesting are the ways to control this invention.
Jørgensen advocates new theremin repertoire, and composers from around the world are writing pieces for him. So, you will hear both masterful arrangements of classics and contemporary works of renowned authors.
