For the first time qualification for the European korfball championship will take place in Lviv
A team of Ukraine will be playing for the qualifying matches of korfball at the stadium «Halychyna» from
1 to 3 of November. The matches will occur among these participating countries: Ukraine, Turkey, Armenia, Sweden, Switzerland, Greece, Belarus.
When I was in the Netherlands, I saw this kind of sport really covers a wide mass. From young to older age people know what is korfball exactly and play it throughout: at the close or opened ground, on the sand or grass, everywhere
Korfball is a game for team with a ball and it is similar to netball. People more than 50 countries are
playing in korfball. The role of women and men is the same. One man can protect only one man and one
woman can protect only one woman. It`s not permitted two of them to protect one.
The game tactics: every command is trying to get some points by realization their tactics. It`s not a contact game, so opponent`s blockage, pushing and retention are prohibited. Also, it is not allowed to dig the ball or push it by fists. Prohibited to touch pillar and basket by hands.
Korfball appeared in Ukraine in 2012. Ukraine is the 60th official korfball country.
The representative of Ukrainian korfball is the Lviv Region Federation of Korfball, that regular holds friendly meetings, seminars and competitions.
There are several teams in Lviv – among younger age category «Svitoch», «Young lions» and among older – the national team VOODOO Lviv.
