Every year, on May 18th, Lviv joins the celebration of International Museum Day. For over forty years, this tradition and initiative of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) has been supported by nearly one and a half hundred countries. On this occasion, 25 museums in Lviv and the Lviv region have developed a special three-day program covering the period from May 17th to May 19th.
The theme chosen by the International Council of Museums ICOM for the year 2024, "Museums: Education and Research", underscores the importance of the museum sphere as a platform for learning, exploration, and understanding.
International Museum Day is annually celebrated to highlight the role of museums in societal development and cultural heritage preservation. Over three days, Lviv museums will open their doors to all interested parties, offering various tours, lectures, workshops, and interactive events for both adults and children. From historical exhibitions to contemporary art.
