Exhibition "Tenderness" - about the early works of the artistic duo Lyudmyla and Volodymyr Loboda, who started their art directly, honestly, experimentally, in the spirit of the time, and as a counterbalance to the established canons and habits of totalitarian Soviet art.
It is rare to have the opportunity to obtain a comprehensive representation and impression of an artist's creative period after 10-20 years have passed since their creation. Paintings lead their own lives - they scatter like gifts, they are sold, or they simply get lost. Often, artists lack the desire, energy, and time to deal with their archives, let alone maintain a detailed catalog of programmatic works, studies, or sketches. However, in the case of our exhibition, even after half a century, we can hear frank, direct language, see a detailed collection of works, and feel the spirit of the time and art of the late 1960s to the early 1970s.
This artistic period of the authors has not had an exhibition history until today, and only individual works have been presented to the public and exist in certain collections. There have been no attempts to analyze and explore this slice of time, which is represented in various techniques: tempera and tapestries, works in wood and metal, drawings, and watercolors.
Although the exhibition itself cannot contain the entire body of work, we plan to showcase it in special viewing events, which will be organized as part of the parallel program of the exhibition. In the 20th year, ArtHuss published a fundamental album of Volodymyr Loboda's works, and now, in conjunction with the exhibition, an album by Lyudmyla Loboda has been released, which will be presented as part of the parallel program.
