Domazhyr BEAR SHELTER is a rehabilitation center aimed at helping and rescuing bears from baiting stations, mobile zoos, circuses, hotels, and restaurants. It was created with the support of the international charitable foundation FOUR PAWS and meets all European standards for such facilities. To ensure the animals feel comfortable and safe, the conditions of bear keeping closely resemble their natural habitat, thereby promoting the restoration of natural instincts and behavior. Each bear at Domazhyr Sanctuary has its own name and a sad history of their previous life in captivity.
Today, Domazhyr is a home for rescued bears and serves as an educational space for fostering environmental awareness. Educational tours and events are conducted here to cultivate visitors' caring attitude towards nature. For example, unique meetings called "Morning Coffee with Bears" take place every Saturday. During this event, you can enjoy a delicious breakfast in a forest clearing and take a guided tour of the sanctuary. You will learn interesting facts about the bears, visit the veterinary office and the kitchen where their food is prepared, and have the opportunity to observe the animals.
